Our Story
Over the past 22 years I have witnessed countless dogs and cats in shelters be euthanized. Perfectly good, sweet, lovable dogs that go straight to death row because they are too big, look too much like a pit bull, too old, too young, or just too “plain”. I saw 2 week old kittens being euthanized because the shelters have no time to bottle feed and not enough volunteers to foster. Although euthanasia in shelters is shown in a negative light, it is preferable to the alternative. The alternative being abandoned down a back road to suffer a slow, miserable death by starvation, exposure, or injury. So what’s the answer? How do we reduce the number of animals going into our shelters to be euthanized? It’s simple, spay and neuter. That’s the only way to reduce the number of unwanted dogs and cats being dumped on the streets, and then euthanized at the shelter. So why are people not getting their pets spayed or neutered? Again, the answer is simple, cost. That is why I decided to set up this organization with the help of family and friends. Our hope is to provide free spay and neuter clinics to Trinity County residents through grants and fundraising, as well as give vetting assistance to local groups to help rehome unwanted pets.
